Managing the services of a city the size of Modesto takes a strong and capable team. As Acting City Manager, Joe Lopez is responsible for all operations of city government, and making recommendations to the City Council on a variety of issues as well as carrying out the decisions of the Council. Interim Deputy City Manager, Rick Armendariz is responsible for overseeing our strategic commitment to Great Safe Neighborhoods. As liaison between the community and the City, Amy Vickery manages public relations and communication efforts.
In addition to implementing the goals of our four strategic commitments, our objectives include prioritizing the mayor and city council's proposed budget priorities. Fiscal sustainability is of the utmost importance to the future of our organization and the services provided to City of Modesto residents.
The City of Modesto is changing. We are building better neighborhoods, engaging partners strategically and aligning our priorities to address our strategic commitments; Great, Safe Neighborhoods, Effective, Responsive & Transparent Government, Vibrant Infrastructure & Sustainable Environment and a Healthy Economy & Great Quality of Life. We face challenges but we are a dedicated team and remain confident in the future.
Modesto is an amazing community that has something to offer everyone: a vibrant downtown bursting with great restaurants, movies, shows and festivals, unique neighborhoods, wonderful family-friendly parks and beautiful trees. We are a city of Great Neighbors, who care about this community.
